Incidents like this are rare, and our officers are working tirelessly to understand exactly what happened and to identify those involved. At this time, there is no indication of any ongoing risk to the wider public.

You will see increased patrols across Wardleworth and the surrounding areas. Officers are on hand to speak with you, offer reassurance, and answer any questions.

We are also asking for your help. If you live near the scene and have CCTV, doorbell footage, or dash‑cam recordings from yesterday afternoon or evening, please check them. Even small details can make a big difference. Footage can be passed directly to the team or uploaded via the GMP online portal.
